Microsoft SharePoint Online Upgrades Target Team Sites, More News

Microsoft is upgrading SharePoint Online to make it easier to use and publish documents to SharePoint team sites.

According to a blog post from the SharePoint team, the enhancements include deeper integration with Office 365 environments, including more flexible ways of creating and manipulating documents. Enterprise workers use team sites to share and collaborate within Office 365.

With this week’s upgrades, it will be easier to author and edit feature rich documents on these team sites.

SharePoint also made some changes to its web parts, which enable users to add documents, videos, images, site activities, Yammer feeds and more.

“The new highlighted content web part lets you set criteria so that specific content will automatically and dynamically populate in that area of the page. And using the SharePoint Framework, developers can build custom web parts that will show up right in the toolbox,” the blog stated.

Microsoft has also integrated Groups with Team Sites, which means every time a site is created, a new group membership is also created.

Groups allows users to create and manage ad hoc groups for collaboration. The group provides members access to a shared inbox, calendar and file repository.

Finally, Microsoft has conceded to requests from team site user for more storage by boosting the SharePoint Online site collection storage limit from 1 TB to 25 TB.

Slack Bot From Docurated

New York City-based content analytics and collaboration specialist Docurated added a new bot to its portfolio that integrates with Slack, the cloud-based team collaboration tool.

The Docurated Slack Bot provides users with contextual content recommendations from any enterprise repository directly from the Slack interface.

This integration connects Slack users to the Docurated Content Graph, which provides insight into a company’s content, activity around that content, and how content relates to customers. Users from across the organization can now surface, share, discuss and make real time decisions on documents and content.

The Docurated Content Graph represents a collection of content and activity and the relationships between them that happen across the entire enterprise and connects people to the relevant content around them.

Google Apps Finds You Phone Docs

Google has just unveiled a new way of finding content on Android phones. The new ‘In Apps’ search tool can find contacts and messages ,and organize your tasks and notes.

It currently works with Gmail, Spotify and YouTube. In the coming months, Google will also be adding more apps, including Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Evernote, Glide, Todoist and Google Keep.

Unlike Google searches, which take place on remote servers, this “In Apps” search takes place entirely on your phone, the company stated.

Only the phone user can see the search results. The user can also control what apps can be searched.
