Process Automation Tools Fuel Your Digital Transformation [Webinar]
Enterprises today have a common problem: a platform that slows down processes and disconnects line-of-business operators from IT.
“It’s a platform that will eventually burn up around you,” Brad Orluk, technical evangelist at Nintex. Orluk made his comments during a recent CMSWire webinar sponsored by Nintex, “How Intelligent Workflows Power Digital Transformation: Proven strategies to harness effective digital transformation.”
During the webinar, he discussed how process automation tools like Nintex’s help enterprises avoid platform- and process-fatigue and focus instead on innovation. Nintex, based in Bellevue, Wash., provides workflow automation tools.

“We want to be able to deliver on promises to our customers,” Orluk said.
“We want to deliver on projects customers want us to implement. We want things less complex. When you automate your processes, you start taking human error out of it. You may be chasing people down via emails, texts, dropping a file into a shared folder hoping someone does something with it. There are moving parts, and moving parts make things more complex. Automation teaches users to think about productivity. How can I drive more value of my business instead of focusing on nonsense like reminding people to approve a document.”
Nintex process automation tools focus on ability to automate processes with systems enterprises already have at their disposal. It’s not just the abundance of platforms that could cause organizations to suffer in productivity. Orluk said organizations are hampered by the complexity introduced by ancillary parts of the business process.
“You need to interact with lots of people and you need documents to be passed along to various different approvers,” Orluk added. “Data needs to be passed from one system to the next. Real issues need to be solved.”
The answer, he said, lies within automation.

Be more productive. It’s the No. 1 thing organizations strive for — better productivity. “We all want to do things that are meaningful where you have demonstrative ways of showing your value to the business,” Orluk said. “It’s personally gratifying to build something that made something really hard to do easier for the business.”
Innovate. Setting up a stand on the side of the road hoping people pass by is not a good strategy. But maybe through the automation of business processes, you have time to improve the selling strategy that roadside stand uses.
Engage employees. Some employees in modern workplaces are disengaged, and benefit from tools that empower them.
Digitally-transforming enterprises get their strategies right by thinking ahead, Orluk said.
“What does digital mean to you and your organization?” he asked. “Does it mean the same to the finance group as it does to IT?
Collaborating helps. It makes your enterprise more agile and helps you produce at scale.
“Everyone working together in some way toward an end goal,” Orluk said. “You have that inner operability across functional areas, and process automation makes that attainable for the business owner.”
